High School Friends

We are lucky to have a couple of high school girls to come to our classroom for 45 minutes once a week. Here are some of the things we are working on with them.
Reviewing our letters.
Talking about things that start with each letter.
Q-tip painting our letters.
Spelling words and making numbers.
Putting number cards in order 0-20.
Matching uppercase and lowercase letters.
Marching uppercase and lowercase letters.

We are so thankful for the extra attention from these girls!

Field Trip Friday-Fire Hall

Today we got to visit the Fire Hall.
Watching how far the water can go.
Watching the water stream from the hose.
Each child was able to try on an air tank and a helmet.
Firefighter Jason all dressed in his gear.

We traveled to and from the Fire Hall in a rescue unit with the firefighters.  The kids watched the lights flash and heard the sirens.
Today was awesome! The class had a great time and learned so much. They also talked about fire safety and everyone should have a fire safety plan. Special thanks to Kasey and Jason!!

The kindergarteners were able to visit the bowling alley today! Monty showed them how the machines work behind the scenes and each child was able to throw the ball a few times. Everyone had a great time!!

Have you heard the saying, teaching kindergarten is like herding cats?? Well...here are my kittens!

5 Senses Lab

Today we used our senses!  We used our ears to hear what was inside some Easter eggs.  We used our eyes to view a variety of pictures and searched for colors and shapes.  We used our nose to smell different smells and see if we could guess.  We used our hands to touch and feel different textures.  We used our mouths to taste some different types of items.  Everyone had a great time!

Using their noses to smell inside the bags.

Using their hands to touch...shaving cream was one surprise in the bag!

Using our noses to smell....

Being brave and touching something unknown!

Using our ears to hear and try to guess what is inside.

I didn't get any pictures of the tasting table.  They were able to taste a marshmallow, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and a lemon drop.

It was a great activity!
